Помимо мультсериала Sonic Boom, на экраны выйдет полнометражный фильм про Соника. Информация об этом появлялась в Сети и раньше, однако в этот раз производство фильма подтверждено официально.
В прокат фильм выпустит компания Sony. Продюсером фильма станет Хил Моритц (Neal H. Moritz), а исполнительным продюсером — Тоби Ашер (Toby Ascher). Как утверждается на сайте The Hollywood Reporter, сценарий к фильму пишут Иван Сассер (Evan Susser) и Ван Робичоу (Van Robichaux).
Более того, на сайте Deadline.com сообщается, что впоследствии может выйти и несколько продолжений полнометражной картины про Соника.
Фильм будет сочетать живые съемки и кинематографические CG-сцены, подобные тем, что можно увидеть в фильме «Смурфики».
В декабре 2013 года Sony Pictures зарегистрировала несколько доменных имен, которые явно или косвенно относятся к полнометражному фильму про Соника. Тогда ни SEGA, ни Sony эту информацию никак не комментировали.\
